    I like how they turn outlying situations in to a mainstream, rampant phenomenon.

    And I also enjoyed how they turned flaming and cyber-bullies into a violent, sexist, conspiracy.

    Not that harassment isn’t an issue. But, please. A threat to female bloggers? OMFG!

    On the one hand, I’m glad that major media are focusing on some of the harassment that women face online. On the other hand, most scare-stories that major media run concerning the online world deal with children, and I worry that the willingness of major media to also run stories about women only arises from a sense that women are just like children. This new wave of stories, about the dangers women face online, have a strongly paternalistic tone to them. It’s not an appropriate tone when speaking of adults.
