   what i found most interesting was all the folks i found, after a quick glance at the discussion boards there, who were defending paypal. while you’re right, it is a cautionary tale, i wonder how effective it is with all of those happy customers logging on and arguing with the whole point of the site.

   i’m not arguing, cw, that it is not a good cautionary tale for companies who think their customers will slink away, but i am concerned that the caution is a very very very mild one in this particular case.
