Philippe’s really getting into kite flying and attaching cameras to those kites. He just sent me Kite Photography in 1906, featuring pictures of san francisco just after the earthquake taken from a kite carrying a 46-pound panoramic camera.

    he has an old crappy digital one of mine that I bought for a hundred bucks a while back with is fairly small, but he plans to fly my old powershot100 (I now I have a s30)with a … hurm.. delta aquiline? some sort of fancy box kite. Very stable.

    I think they do not have to be terribly light. But you know California has terrific wind pretty much all the time either on the coast on or certain slopes. Philippe is a long time aerial photography enthusiast with his remote control gliders. Kites are a natural extension. He uses mercury switches to trigger the shutter so the tilt of the flight takes the photo.
