the only thing I’ve ever had that works is webwasher (a quick search should turn it up)

What I like aobut this is when we choose opt-out we are (hopefully) sending a message that this kind of ad annoys us and damages the brand of the thing being advertised.

    I know, I’m am optimist.

The opt-out things should work as long as you accept cookies from the sites and don’t clear the cookies out. Of course, the ad tracking networks then use the same cookies to convert your surfing habits into marketing data.

I use The Promitron . It’s a freeware proxy that filters out the automatic pop-ups, nosy Javascript, third-party cookies, and more.
