Kristen Truong After hearing about the loss of Argus, I have been stunned and surprised. Despite all the problems with the economy, I hoped that the dark cloud would avoid our IA community. Unfortunately, we might all need umbrellas. As a soon-to-be graduate of the Univ. of Michigan's School of Information, Argus's influence on my education in Information Architecture has been profound. Peter, Lou, and Samantha's guidance and instruction for both the Information Architecture class and the Thesaurus seminar were enlightening; their continual involvement in the school as been instrumental in the recognition of Information Architecture in the academic community and business community. I have read their book and the many interviews and articles from ACIA many times. These sources have helped me back up my ideas and recommendations at my company. This is work I enjoy immensely, and was the reason I came back to school (even though I did not have a name for it yet!). As an information architect, I feel that my profession choice has been greatly molded and defined by the Argus group. I'm sure the influence of the argonauts will still be felt throughout the information architecture community far into the future. Kristen Truong |
